Albania hit by worst floods in almost half a century
The floodgates opened in spectactular fashion in Albania.
Authorities were forced to discharge water from three hydro electric power stations after danger levels were reached.
Rain and melting snow have caused the worst floods in Albania in almost half a century, with some 2500 homes having to be evactuated.
The EU and others have sent aid, but angry locals say help is taking time to get through.
The houses are all flooded, one man said. No aid has come from anyone, no-ones brought us anything. We were told to register, people have all fled to neighbouring villages.
The worst hit area is the Shkodra district, north of the capital Tirana. In Northern Croatia too, theres been widespread flooding after continuous rain since the beginning of the year.
An artificial lake in the Kosinj valley has overflowed and in some areas water levels were reported to be rising by eight centimetres an hour.
And to add to the misery, hailstorms hit the Dubrovnik region on Sunday.
Torrential rains bring heavy floods in Albania
In Albania, more than two-thousand houses and ten-thousand hectares of land are flooded after days of torrential rains.
The situation is the worst in central and southern parts of the country, where flood waters are raging through villages after several smaller rivers spilled over their banks.
Thousands of people have been evacuated.
Many countries in the region, including Italy and Greece have sent aid to Albania.
Meanwhile, Bosnia is also suffering from days of torrential rains. More rains are forecast in the coming days.

Tirana. Over 2500 houses were flooded in northern Albania, AFP reported, referring to the Albanian Interior Ministry. Flooding forced the evacuation of about 5000 people.
So far around 10 000 hectares of land are under water.
“The worst has already passed, but the situation remains critical,” president of the Albanian Parliament Jozefina Topalli said.
Several European countries sent their rescue teams to Albania to help local authorities to cope with floods in the town of Shkoder.

Por deri kur ujerat e Drinit te terhiqen, pamja qe ofrohet nga qielli tregon situaten gati apokaliptike te permbytjeve.
Me mijera hektare toke te permbytura e mijera shtepi nen uje, shume prej te cilave tashme u duken vetem catite.
Pamjet e marra nga lart nga Top Channel tregojne se edhe ne kushte te veshtira disa prej banoreve nuk kane braktisur shtepite duke sfiduar ujerat dhe temperaturat e ulta. Ne fshatin Obot situata paraqitet edhe me dramatike me shtepi totalisht nen uje. Fshati eshte kthyer ne nje fshat fantazem.
Nderkohe ne qytetin e Shkodres, uji ka vershuar ne rrugen kryesore te lagjes Xhabi pasi pusetat nuk mund te shkarkojne ujin ne lume.
Mesohet se rreth 800 forca te ushtrise ndodhen prane banoreve te zonave te permbytura per tu ardhur ne ndihme atyre, megjithese vihet re nje permiresim i lehte i situates.
Les éléments se déchaînent en Albanie
En Albanie, pour éviter que les barrages ne cèdent, les autorités ont décidé douvrir les vannes pour faire retomber la pression exercée par le Drin, le plus grand fleuve du pays.
Pas de quoi rassurer les habitants du nord du pays dont les terres sont déjà sous les eaux. Les fortes précipitations, qui ont affecté la région cette semaine, ont provoqué linondation de plusieurs milliers dhectares. Quelque 5.000 personnes ont du être évacuées depuis jeudi. Des soldats supplémentaires sont arrivés ce dimanche dans les régions de Shkoder et Lezha pour venir en aide aux personnes encore bloquées.
Les maisons sont toutes inondées à 100% raconte cet homme. Personne nest venu nous aider, on nous a dit de nous inscrire mais tout le monde sest enfuit vers les villages des environs.
Le gouvernement albanais a demandé de laide aux pays de lOTAN.
Les éléments sacharnent également en Croatie où les pluies importantes de ce début dannée et la fonte des neiges ont créé beaucoup de problèmes dans certaines régions.

Fox News disinfo operative par excellence Glenn Beck and his entourage of yellow journos from Hearst say FEMA camps do not exist. The Fox News kool aid drinkers, numbering in the millions but in steep decline as the truth goes viral, may believe Beck, however they are at odds with reality.
FEMA camps do exist, although they may not be explicitly run by the emergency bureaucrats. In January, a bill was introduced in Congress that would authorize the Department of Homeland Security to set up a network camp facilities to be used to intern U.S. citizens in the event of a national emergency. The National Emergency Centers Act or HR 645 mandates the establishment of national emergency centers to be located on military installations for the purpose of to providing temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to an emergency or major disaster, according to the bill.
FEMA, of course, is part of the DHS, so we are mixing apples and oranges here. Its all part of the emergent federal police state, designed to wrangle the real enemy of the government — the American people.
Rex 84, Operation Garden Plot, Operation Cable Splicer, and a flurry of executive orders issued over the years have established the framework for concentration camps. Glenn Beck, of course, didnt bother to mention any of this in his hit piece, or did his Hearst researchers bother to do a Google search. If they had, they would have stumbled upon the Pentagons Civilian Inmate Labor Program, provided by Army Regulation 210-35, that establishes labor programs and prison camps on Army installations. In January 2006, Kellogg, Brown and Root reported that they had received a contract from the Department of Homeland Security to expand these internment camps. More than a few have commented that the spanking new KBR camps will be used to house civilian laborers, that is to say slave laborers. Many more have said the camps are for patriots and others who are opposed to an increasingly authoritarian government.
Award winning writer and filmmaker William Lewis latest documentary should be used to answer Glenn Beck and the other Pentagon script readers in the corporate media. Why is the media on the one hand saying there are no FEMA camps, Alex Jones asks in Lewis Camp FEMA, while on the other hand legislation has been introduced to build them? As Jones notes in this landmark documentary, HR 645 legalizes what the government has spent decades building.
In the documentary, Jerome Corsi says the government is preparing for civil unrest of the sort predicted by trends forecaster Gerald Celente and others as the economy falls apart as engineered by the bankster cabal and millions of people lose their jobs and are reduced to penury. Corsi says he has contacted the Department of Homeland Security and they have admitted KBR has built concentration camps.
Glenn Beck, please stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
