Terrified residents throughout Chile were awakened by an 8.8. magnitude earthquake. As Seth Doane reports, aid is already making it’s way to the country.
Emergency aid funded by Plan donors is reaching victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Plan has provided 1,500 families with food every day since the quake struck and a shipment of vital Plan aid – including 4,000 tents and more than 300 survival kits – is now being distributed across the Jacmel area in south Haiti.
It looks like the aftermath of an earthquake – but it is a state-of-the-art training centre for China’s fast-growing international search and rescue squad

Samaritan’s Purse, the Boone-based non-profit organization that provides immediate response to the physical and spiritual needs of individuals in crisis situations, dispatched a team just hours after the quake to help with water, shelter, medical care, and other emergency needs. An initial shipment of emergency relief items were loaded onto a DC-3 cargo plane to fly to Port Au Prince today. I went to the national headquarters located here in Boone to get more information on the relief effort.
