Should the country copy the Mormons in self reliance and preparedness.?
People mocked Mormons for having a years worth of food storage and staying out of debt. But we see now its a good thing. Maybe Obama should appoint Mormons to teach the rest of Americans how to be self reliant.
Come on now Jill read the question and dont be a troll.
Ok but you have to realize Mormons have million dollar facilities dedicated to food storage. Im just saying maybe the gov can take a few notes.
We should prepare, taking lessons either from the "Mormons" or from our grandparents who survived the "Great Depression". As long as we learn to do better and be better….it does not matter so much who the lesson comes from………………….our own individual witness and struggle will aid us all.
I, personally, admire and respect a woman who fed a family of 14 on "nothing", and kept them all alive during the 30’s. Draw your strength wherever it comes from…………draw it and then implement those lessons. We will ALL need that encouragement.
It’s not okay to marry more than one person.
I get accused of being a troll every day on here. If being a troll means speaking the truth whether people want to hear it or not, then by all means, call me a troll. The truth hurts 99% of the time. So stop complaining and just be happy to have one husband/wife.

I already am self reliant and prepared for most emergencies. It doesn’t take religion to make people aware of potential disasters.
The ‘other’ Jill doesn’t realize mormons do NOT practice polygamy. She needs to research before spouting.

Or even better, maybe he shouldn’t.

People mocked the National Socialists of pre-war Germany for their One pot meals once a month and collecting door-to-door to fund feeding the poor…Maybe Obama should appoint neo-nazis too…

It is said that to emulate someone is the sincerest form of flattery. But seriously, the Mormon Church.s counsel on all things have always been accessible to all of those who accept them, there is no need to appoint any special emmisary to complete the American education in preparedness the information is out there for those who want it – to suggest yhat somehow there is now need is almost insulting to Americans who couldn’t be all that thick can they?

There is nothing wrong with being prepared for hardship, financially or otherwise. It is something we all should do (but is difficult when you are poor and live from pay-check-to-paycheck).
There are many survivalist groups that have nothing to do with religion. Some are so obsessed, they take survival-ism to an extreme.
Should Obama appoint Mormons? I suppose they deserve equal representation, but I don’t want their views to influence government (or me).
How many people know that the church’s founder was convicted of fraud before starting the church?
I do not say this to be insulting – it is just an observation from the English language – "Mormon" is just one "m" away from "moron".
If someone wants to follow a religion created by a man convicted of fraud – that is their business. Should their beliefs be put on those of us who don’t want it it? – NO!
On the other hand, I guess you could say that Jesus the Christ was a "convict" too. It is a good thing I don’t follow either one…

I agree that the principles of the mormon church would be great for the country. There are so many children who never learn to care for themselves properly. Such as: balancing a check book, handling finances, foos storage etc. It should be included in schools as much as regular academics!
