Adelaide is as ready as any other large city.

The emergency services have planning and training/scenarios regularly. There is a state incident room ready to activate at any time when a major incident is happening. It is manned by all the emergency services and co-ordinated from a central location.

The main problem with any disaster is getting the man-power and resources to the incident in the first place. These things take time.

The Kangaroo Island bush fires was a good example of all the multi-agencies coming together and working as a team, from the CFS (fighting the fires) through to the Salvos (feeding the volunteers).

It involved many man-hours from CFS, MFS, Nat. Parks, SES, Police, St Johns, SAAS, Salvos, Air-support etc. etc. All these people have to be fed and watered and there is an agreement with a large supermarket chain to fill shipping containers with foods and water and supplies and then truck companies to transport those containers.

I am involved with CFS and know the logistics involved with all the emergency services and the Govt.

He was criticized after 9/11 by other Arabs for not warning the USA beforehand, and for not giving the USA an opportunity to convert to Islam beforehand. How, he has given several warnings, and has asked President Bush to convert to Islam, and now the entire USA. He has faulted the democrats for not doing anything. How long is it before thousands more innocent men, women and children of all nationalities, as Americans are, die?

disaster are either natural or man made – terrorist attacks, plain or train accidents . Hospital emergencies are usually not geared to receive mass casualties, what should be the hospital planning to meet such a situation?

Have allot of staff and equipment on standby, and rooms which are free and can be used.
Also, sort out the patients.
Failed: Person can’t be saved and time spent on this person would be wasted and indirectly cause more death.

Priority: Person can be saved but needs help quickly, or he/she will die.

Critical: Person does not need immediate attention, but does need aid and fast.

Non-critical: Needs a bandages and painkillers.

The ability of an organization to recover from a disaster is directly related to the degree of disaster recovery Planning or Business Continuity Planning that has taken place BEFORE the disaster. Industry analysts claim that two out of five businesses that experience a disaster will go out of business within five years of the event.

There are a number of disasters that can happen — environmental (think Katrina or earthquake), technical (computer system goes down or power outage) or human (think bird flu restricting travel).
