natural disaster

It’s About the Future…………yours!

We are all concerned with the possibility of further public health emergencies arising in the wake of recent hurricanes, tsunamis, acts of terrorism, and floods. Though some feel that it is impossible to be prepared for unexpected events, the truth is that taking preparedness actions before the emergency occurs helps you to deal with disasters when they do occur.

Hurricanes are among the most dramatic, damaging and potentially deadly weather events. The force of hurricane winds alone can cause tremendous devastation, toppling trees and power lines, closing roads; they cause flooding and severe damage to buildings.

On August 28th, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the southern coast of the United States with devastating effect. The storm surge breached the city’s levees at multiple points, leaving 80 percent of the city submerged, tens of thousands of victims clinging to rooftops, and hundreds of thousands scattered to shelters around the country.
Now, three years later, how many of us have prepared ourselves to survive the next natural disaster?
Will you be able to survive those first critical 3 days of a disaster with no electricity, water or medical help?
   WILL YOU?

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) says “To survive a natural or man-made disaster we must have the tools and plans in place to make it on our own, at least for a period of time, no matter where we are when the disaster strikes. Just like having a working smoke detector in the case of a fire, preparing for the unexpected makes sense.”

When preparing for a possible emergency situation, it’s best to think first about the basics of survival: Fresh water, Food, clean air and warmth. To ensure these basics you need to have the following available for you and your family.

·         Water, one gallon of water per person per day for at least three days, for drinking and sanitation

·         Food, at least a three-day supply of non-perishable food

·         A comprehensive First aid kit

·         Flashlight and extra batteries

·         Battery-powered or hand crank radio and a NOAA Weather Radio and extra batteries for both

·         Dust mask, to help filter contaminated air and plastic sheeting and duct tape to shelter-in-place

·         Moist towelettes, garbage bags and plastic ties forpersonal sanitation

·         Whistle to signal for help

·         Wrench to turn off utilities

·         Can opener for food (if kit contains canned food)

The same preparedness is true for any natural or manmade disaster or emergency situation that catches you off-guard. The gear necessary to provide you and your family with the basics for survival are the same no matter where you live.

One of the most destructive forces of nature that affect many in western part of the country is a severe earthquake and the devastation that it leaves behind.
Earthquakes strike very suddenly and when they strike in or very near a populated area, the result is often severe property damage and loss of life.
The only defence that we can use to help reduce injuries when an earthquake strikes is to be prepared as individual and families.
Know the chances for an earthquake in your area. Prepare your family and home with disaster supplies and a disaster plan that will help you through any natural or man-made emergency.
The southern California earthquake of July 29, 2008 was a reminder to make the preparations now that you will need to survive the next emergency.

Winter storms can bring heavy snowfall and extreme cold that can immobilize an entire region. Even areas that normally experience mild winters can be hit with a major snowstorm or extreme cold. Winter storms can result in flooding, storm surge, closed highways, blocked roads, downed power lines and hypothermia.

Floods are one of the most common hazards in the United States. Flood effects can be local, impacting a neighbourhood or community, or if very large like Katrina, affecting entire river basins and multiple states.

The most disturbing news that the latest surveys have given us is that fewer than 50% of households located in earthquake zones have disaster supply kits at hand. Even after the graphic videos provided by the news media, half of our population makes no effort to prepare!
Remember, you will likely be on your own in the hours and days following an earthquake, flood, and severe storm or any major emergency.  I urge you to be prepared for the unexpected with emergency drinking water, food, first aid supplies, and medications regardless of where you live.

I hope that this article has given you some incentive to bring your family to a better prepared condition.

Sincerely:

How to save the environment after a natural disaster?

what is the solution to natural disasters?
how to restore the environment then?

If you really mean natural disaster, then there is very little humans can do besides evacuate until the danger has passed. The big debate over climate change, however, is about whether human impacts will exacerbate natural disasters. Now that could be a serious complication. No matter the cause, nature has a tremendous capability to rehabilitate itself but it could take thousands of years. On a geologic scale, this is no problem but since a human generation occupies such a short span on this time line, it is a concern to us. Another point to remember, human intervention can accelerate recovery but short-sighted modifications to prevent incidents in the future can actually increase the likelihood of devastation. Just look at the system of levees and dams throughout the country for flood control. Yet, when a storm event exceeds the designed specifications of the structure, flooding ensues. Our actions actually create more of a problem! Living on the coast is another example. Duh, hurricanes!

A Valentine Lost And Then Found

I riffled through the draw and unexpectedly my eyes caught a glimpse of a worn and tattered envelope. Inside the folds of the letter lay a dried rose. At once I gathered the tiny rose into my hand and began to read.

Tears filled my eyes as the words poured forth in perfect harmony, thoughts of love. It seemed like a dream, yet the feelings surrounded my being and penetrated my thoughts. So many years had past and yet each word brought memories so clear of the love I felt for my soul mate.

I love you with all my heart. I long for the times that we spend together. Each day I think of you with so much love that I feel like I am overflowing with joy. I praise God all the time just thinking of how wonderful you are and how you are so perfect for me. You are my ultimate valentine!

I looked at these words of love I once felt and I remembered. It was as if a dove flew in with the most wonderful gift for a certain amount of time and then departed. It’s hard to understand how the love I felt for my valentine had so many feelings, but now they had lost their passion for love.

This is not what God intended for love. God’s desire is for us to hold tightly to love and fight to keep it alive. God tells us that He is love.

1John 4:7&8, “Dear Friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

Too many people today think that sexual lust for another person is love. They don’t understand how important true love is to a couple. They don’t understand that they must have a secure foundation in God in order to maintain love.

In order to understand love we must have faith in God. God is the protector of love. We live in a world where people have been given the freewill to decide how they will believe and who they will believe in.

We are constantly being tested because we are evolving through the situations we face in life. Tests that open our eyes up to what kind of love is good and what kind of love is sin and an instrument of Satan.

Our feelings for each other make us determined to go forward in a relationship or stop us in our tracks. But the right kind of Love propels us towards life experiences that change the way we think about our world.

When we love deeply, then it gives us a determination to stay together no matter what. We are strong and we are not afraid of what others may think of our love. Love gives us the ability to be an unbreakable force, because the right kind of love represents God.

1 John 4:17&18, “Love is made perfect in us in order that we may have courage on the Judgment Day; and we will have it because our life in this world is the same as Christ’s. There is no fear in love; perfect love drives out all fear. So then, love has not been made perfect in anyone who is afraid, because fear has to do with punishment.”

Take Action Today!

Love makes God’s children perfect. Love takes away our fear of the “what ifs” of life. Love is not afraid of punishment or suffering because love drives away all kinds of fear.

This is the reason why couples who rely on God can face the death of a child and remain together. This is the reason why when a natural disaster occurs and takes a families home, the couples who have love, remain strong and conquer the disaster with faith.

Because God is manifested in love, strong relationships grow stronger through the hardships they face in this world. While those who don’t have God, suffer and faint because of fear of being abandoned by their spouse when the times of testings come.

1John5:3-5, “For our love for God means that we obey his commands. And his commands are not too hard for us, because every child of God is able to defeat the world. And we win the victory over the world by means of our faith. Who can defeat the world? Only the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

I took this new found knowledge of love and began to look at how to rekindle the feelings I once felt for my spouse. Through prayer I sought God’s help to heal the distance that had developed from us not expressing the love we felt unconditionally for each other.

I prayed that God would forgive me for taking my marriage for granted. I asked the creator of love to reignite the passion once lost. I pleaded that God would give me the words to express my love.

The words had barely left my lips when a dove of love came floating in with God’s compassionate reply:

Dear Children, You are my Valentine. Your love for each other creates stars that shine forth in love igniting the Universe with light. Love between two people are like bright shiny rays of light reflecting my heart for man. Love fulfills your destiny and inspires those who are lost to seek the light of understanding given them by Me. My love for you is never ending and always available to all those who are destined to find Me. Seek love, long for love, and your journey in this world will be proven to be of the purest gold. Gold refined by the fire of life. Love inspired through never giving up or giving into evil. I Love You, God has spoken.

My heart jumped for joy and the love that had once grown dormant shone brightly for my love. Suddenly everything about our life made since again. My Valentine that once was lost, has now been found!

Natural Cleaning Products You Should Never Use For Black Mold

There have been numerous times where as a black mold specialist, people tell me I used bleach to clean this black mold and it now comes back. So many of us seem to never be able to get rid of soap scum and black mold.

A word of caution:

Bleach is not the answer for cleaning black mold. While some misinterpret natural cleaning products and use bleach, they are simply in for some trouble. The truth is bleach will remove the black mold. Although, it will only remove this mold temporarily because of the DNA of the black mold is not been destroyed and that is just the beginning..

Besides cleaning the black mold you really must focus on preventing the mold from coming back. Mold and mildew are pretty toxic, thus natural cleaning products or “Green” products are being formulated to solve these problems with out needing to evacuate your home while cleaning it.

Believe it or not, most natural cleaning products are not really that strong. This is the challenge of natural cleaning products. But before I jump into details let me explain what happens when you do get the right solution that can remove mold and prevent in one single solution.

As you probably know Green cleaning products are an excellent alternative to a safe environment. What happens with powerful natural cleaning products is applying a liquid solution that can settle on the surface of the problematic area and at the same time destroy the DNA makeup of the mold. Then you can apply that same solution over the area again to use the solution as a safe shield to cover the surface and prevent future amplification. Since the solution is a natural cleaning solution you have the luxury of using it as a maintenance product in the home, not harming you, your children, or your pets.

Bottom line is you need to understand natural cleaning products and be sure to use what professionals are using to clean black mold and mildew. Most contractors may be using the wrong solution or too harsh of a chemical thus that is why you pay them the dollars needed to get the job done correctly.

At the moment you can research some natural cleaning products to help you in your battle with black mold and janitorial cleaning. Better yet you can try a product with a full guarantee. If the problem is black mold then be sure to attack the source, break up the DNA, and use a prevention method. This is truly the only way to rid your self of black mold. Always try to use green cleaning products when in your home so you do not pose a risk with your health and if the mold problem is large do look into a professional to consult with.

Many black mold cases and mold removal projects can turn into nightmares due to the proper due diligence needed for a mold disaster. The best way to prevent mold removal headaches is take care of it fast, use the correct solution and hire additional help and consultants to create a protocol to remove the mold andm mildew.

How to Keep Safe During a Natural Calamity

Nobody wants to contemplate the tragedies that can overtake a family in the aftermath of a natural disaster. But after listening to the anguish of victims of Hurricane Katrina, preparing for a natural disaster should be on everybody’s mind. Even if you do not live in an area likely to experience hurricanes, there are still many different natural disasters to prepare for, including floods, wildfires, tornados and earthquakes. Any one of these natural disasters can cut off electricity and water and leave you and your family stranded. Having an emergency plan and supply kits really can signify the difference between an annoying situation and a catastrophe. Preparing for a natural disaster is as easy as buying groceries at the supermarket. The fundamental point is to know what your family needs and for how long.

Begin Getting Ready for a Natural disaster Right Away

The good thing about preparing for a natural disaster is that you can do it rather quickly and economically. To begin with, select a cool, dry place to store supplies. Your first priority should be food and water. Purchase containers of water from supermarket, so you won’t have to be concerned about bacteria or other cross contamination. You should have a three-day store of water for each person in your family. Fit adults require at least one-half gallon of water a day. Children, nursing mothers and sick people will require more water. If the temperature is rising, you will also need extra water per person. Food in your emergency supply kit should be canned or other non-perishables-nothing that requires cooking or have water mixed in it. Good selections include granola bars, peanut butter and jelly, canned juice, trail mix and ready-to-eat meats, vegetables and fruits. And don’t forget the can opener!

Alongside food and water, you should also have a well-stocked first aid kit with ample bandages, antiseptic, thermometer, tweezers, soap, latex gloves and sunscreen. You should also put in some pain reliever, antacid and an emetic substance (to induce vomiting). You also need at least one entire change of clothing per person, outer wear, blankets or sleeping bags and sturdy shoes or boots. To aid in keeping everything and everyone as clean as possible, don’t forget to put in toilet paper, antiseptic, soap detergent, garbage bags with twist ties and other personal hygiene articles in your natural disaster supply kit.

Don’t Forget to Allow for Any Particular Needs of Family Members

Infants and anyone on special medication or with other medical needs require extra emergency supplies. For infants, you should pack formula, bottles, diapers, pacifiers, diaper rash cream and any medicines. Normal medications many adults need include blood pressure medication, prescription medication, insulin, contact lenses or glasses, denture products and hearing aid batteries.

You should also always deposit a copy of significant documents in a safe place that you can access in case of a natural disaster. This includes wills, insurance policies, contracts, stocks, bonds, deeds, photo IDs, social security cards, credit card information and bank account numbers. Store these articles in a waterproof/fireproof strong box that you can move easily. You may also want to pop in some cash, in case you cannot access your ATM or bank in the aftermath of a natural disaster.

How to Care for Your Plant After a Natural Disaster

It may not seem promising, but even after a main storm or whirlwind with high winds, many grass can actually be restored. While the chief limbs are still intact, as well as the lawsuit and roots, and there is no moldy forest, the ranking has a high possibility of current.

The keen winds that come with a hurricane often affect all the foliage on a hierarchy to be blown off. This is termed defoliation of the crown. However, this doesn’t mean the ranking has died. In truth, when a shade is defoliated it is maybe still pretty well. Here, all you have to do remain and be patient. When give rolls around the next year, new foliage will possibly crop up. Another instigate of leaf shortfall occurs when salt flooded plants water. Deal with this by irrigating the soil around the hierarchy to get rid of any extra salt.

If only small brushwood are shattered or ended, you can mostly fix this through some austere pruning. If you shorten suitably, the ranking will have a high prospect of recovery.

In foliage that was easily tough to decay, if only a few main limbs are kaput, the ranking may be recoverable. A good example of this is live oak. This is a species of hierarchy that is very good at resisting decay. Even with major offshoot injure, restoration is generally viable. Of course, the younger the hierarchy, the more probable it can be restored.

In decay strong foliage, major blind injure doesn’t always pose a conundrum each. These plants obviously salvage well after storms, even with up to 3/4 of their small branches broken or detached.

Smaller foliage that was leaning or have fallen are good candidates for recovery. Nevertheless keep in heed that this only applies to grass that have been planted freshly or have a shaft diameter smaller than 4in. These grass can be put back in place or replanted, depending on the post. For superior plants that you want to recoup, dealings the professionals.

A small hierarchy, however, shouldn’t be a tricky for the homeowner to reestablish lacking any past help.

Here’s how to replant a small hierarchy:

Keep the roots soggy at all period. Excavate the fleapit to fit the roots well and get rid of any uneven or torn roots. Make the tree as stretch as possible and then back satisfy with soil from the situate. Treat the tree as you would a newly planted one, by watering thoroughly. Three gallons per creep of body diameter three epoch a week should be sunny. Lastly, stake the tree and adjust the stakes until the tree becomes steady again and can be distant.

Cleaning up tree damage and recovering trees on your home doesn’t have to be a major undertaking. Of course, the difficulty and duration of the job will depend on the severity of the storm damage, but in most suitcases many of trees are able to be improved and restored to their past glory.

Earthquake

Fire

Whether you believe in global warming or not, something is changing our weather patterns in many areas. The seasons seem more extreme, and in warm climates such as southern California, there are sometimes draught conditions. This may make your El Centro home more susceptible to wild fires, but that does not mean you cannot take some measures to protect it. Some tips are:

Use a fireproof roof such as tile or metal

Make sure all trees are far enough away that if they catch fire they will not fall on the house

Clear away any dead shrubs and underbrush, especially if it is next to outside walls

Even if you have a sprinkler system, make hoses and outlets available should you need to wet down your home

Value Added

Anything you do to keep your El Centro home in good repair and as safe as possible from Mother Natures bad temper will add value to your home. That means it will sell faster if you put it on the market and will be worth more if you choose to refinance. Even more important is the fact that it will make you feel safer and more secure in your house.
