This evening, I decided I should fill my water jugs just in case of a big earth quake. We had a 5.4 earth quake here 3 days ago and have been having minor aftershocks ever since. They have said midwestern earth quakes are poorly understood.
What else should we do to prepare for natural disaster?

Make sure you have a supply of batteries, flashlights and a portable radio or TV and your cell phone charger.
Buy a first aid kit just for true emergencies.
Have an evacuation plan who’s going to meet where.
You should have some non perishable food that you can eat cold.

Don’t forget a can opener.
Collect all important papers and decide whether to take them with you or put them in a safe deposit box
Take photos of your belongings for insurance purposes
Decide what to do with your pets. Many shelters won’t take them.
Put some cash aside. There’s usually a run on ATM machines.
Swap out your emergency supplies at least once a year.
If you have some warning, fill your gas tank (if you can afford it)

Say if there is an immigration raid should the parents have plans in place for what to do with their kids if that should ever happen ?

I think I understand your question. You are talking about the US citizen minors with Illegal Immigrant parents.

Most do have a backup plan. Most Illegal Immigrants with children have family legally in the United States. I’ve already seen the kids with Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents.

I’m guessing you saw some type of arguement about the enforcement problem.

You know, the US is a very decent place. The average American is a very kind person. The reason why we hear about things like Road Rage or Crimes of Deception against little old widows, is that they are so rare and are not typical for us. Acutally, stories of evil people enrage us.

A person coming from another country likely has witnessed a complete opposite of human behavior. Power is the most important aspect of the few and it is used and weilded daily against those who have no power. Little old ladies are beaten. Children are foced into slavery and prostitution. If you own anything, it is stolen and taken away from you.

Then, you come to the United States. This is a place where you get off with a warning for driving 5 miles over the speed limit rather than getting forced to bribe the cop who pulled you over. Or you have some group of enraged citizens putting pressure on the company you worked for in an attempt to protect your retirement pension. Or you have the Right to own a firearm. Or you get to bail yourself out of jail. Or you actually "own" the land you buy. I can go on and on.

So, if you are an illegal immigrant who was exposed to attrocities, then in the US you see nothing but decency, of course you are going to be suprised that anyone would break up your family for something as trivial as tresspassing!

I mean putting the first responder and patient at risk dependant on circumstances.

As a Rtd Nurse and a recipient of the first hand care of the Ambulance crew I say that one person is a recipe for disaster.

This question is kinda hard. I don’t blame anyone for not knowing an answer but at least give me an idea. 10 points is up for grabs!
I know right. Its freakin hard to answer cause disaster recovery is sooo open!

Backups… thats a good answer. But I think the instructor is looking more if the network went down, how does it achieve a speedy disaster recovery? Compared to a wired LAN. Would it take you longer to set the network back up?

I am 58+.
Likely disaster occurring during my life time could be,
In order of priority:
(I) Natural:
(1) meteorite/asteroid impact
(2) Giant Earthquake
(3) Epidemic etc.

(II) Man Made
(1) Dam Burst and consequent flooding
(2) Nuclear Disaster
(3) Epidemic due to poor sanitation and hygiene etc.

These disasters would affect our coming generations or progeny.
3rd world or developing countries are more likely to be affected by the impact of these disasters. For example a given high magnitude earthquake say of +7 intensity would bring mare loss and causalities in India than it would in Japan
